Take your pick when it comes to wakesurf ropes and handles. Some prefer just a knotted rope and some prefer a handle. Here are a few tips in deciding what is best for your wakesurfing crew. A Wakesurf combo that has a rope and handle seem to be best for crews that have some beginners or bigger guys that need a little more grip when getting out of the water. Beginners tend to find it easy to use the smaller 9 inch handle to get up and out of the water when wakesurfing. Also if they are not at the point where they are dropping the rope then the handle is really helpful when they are carving and slashing the wake. Take a look at some typical handle combo below:
A knotted wakesurf rope without a handle will be a thick braided rope. Similar to the old school wakeboard braided ropes we used back in the day. The thick braid will give you a place to grip while getting up. The thick rope will help you pull into the sweet spot. Once you are in the groove you can toss the braided rope into the boat and not have to worry about knocking someone out with a 9 inch handle. You also have nothing to get caught on with a braided or knotted wakesurf rope. The handles for wakesurf ropes are smaller but you can still get caught in one if you are not paying attention.
